The immediate aim of Catholic Action is the formation of the Catholic conscience, first in Catholics throughout the world, and then in all other men. Only thus will we accomplish the social reigns of Christ the King and Mary our Queen, as well as the restoration of traditional Catholic values among the faithful and in the world. This formation will be achieved through prayer and study, and it is for this end that the Catholic Action Study Program has been instituted and given the papal blessing. Since Catholic Action must be an organized effort between the clergy and the laity, it follows that Catholic Action Study Groups will be meetings, whenever possible, where the clergy and the laity are present together. At the very least, priests should be asked to help coordinate the plans for each monthly meeting if they cannot be present themselves. The plan for the Catholic Action Study Group is simple: Once each month, at a convenient time and day for all, Catholics desirous to assist with Catholic Action will meet for slightly longer than an hour. They can begin each meeting with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, the powerful prayer of our apostolate, followed by two periods of no longer than 20 minutes each, where a summary of the Study Circle material for that month is presented and reviewed by all present. At the conclusion of the study period, the Study Group members will plan an apostolic action for the month, be it the formation of an educational campaign, a special Novena for the intentions of Catholic Action, or more. This period of action is important, because our Faith and learning cannot be hidden away; we must "let our light shine before men" so that they can be delivered from the powers of darkness. Printed material on a variety of topics for Catholic Action is available from the Catholic Research Institute. The meeting may be concluded with a prayer, especially to the Holy Ghost, for the strength and light to accomplish each one's apostolic duties. The Catholic Action Study Program is an essential tool in our work to win the world back for Christ and His Church. Take each meeting seriously, ask questions about the material so that you fully understand it, and then resolve to pass on this knowledge to interested family and friends. |
